Revs Finds Success at 2026 Monterey Car Week
The Revs hauler is coming home from Monterey Car Week heavier than it left with a first place racing trophy from our 1969 Porsche 917 PA and an Elegance in Motion award from Pebble Beach for our 1938 Alfa Romeo Tipo 8c 2900 Berlinetta. Revs founder Miles Collier was also the recipient of the Petersen Legacy award.
Car Week kicked off strong for us at the Rolex Motorsport Reunion with both the 1956 Porsche Carrera Speedster and 1969 917 PA posting fast times in practice and qualifying. On Friday, the first race day, the Speedster placed 8th and the 917 PA placed 4th in their races. Sadly, as is sometimes the case in vintage motorsport an issue arose with the Speedster which could not be remedied on location, leading to the decision to retire the car for the second race day.
For day two of racing, the 917 PA came out swinging with Gunnar Jeannette piloting the Can-Am beast to a first-place finish, winning the Bruce McLaren Trophy. It didn’t make it to victory lane unscathed though. While battling, the car in front had a mechanical fault causing it to rapidly decelerate and make light contact, causing damage to one of the front dive planes.
Running 70-year-old cars hard on track is by no means easy on the car and this weekend was no exception, however, it is a ritual woven into the identity of Revs.
“Automobiles are something we can call ACTIVE MATTER, they are artifacts that derive and contain their significance through their operation,” said Revs Founder Miles Collier.
Keeping in the theme of operation, our 1919 Ballot 5/8c Indy racer was displayed and fired up multiple times throughout the weekend.
While the action was open throttle at the motorsport reunion, Revs was also in full swing at Pebble Beach.
Founder Miles Collier was very active at both events but especially at Pebble where he participated in a panel about AI and the collector car world alongside other industry titans. He also was the recipient of the Petersen Legacy award, recognizing his contributions to historic automobiles and the automotive industry at large. The award is inspired and named after Robert E. Petersen, the founder of the Petersen Museum.
Our 1938 Alfa Romeo Tipo 8c 2900 Berlinetta ran excellent during the Tour D’Elegance Thursday, cruising the California coast in style before the main show on Sunday.
During the award presentation, The Alfa was given the Elegance in Motion award, an accolade presented by Gooding Christie’s for the most elegant car to complete the tour.
The Alfa wasn’t the only star Revs brought to Pebble Beach, we had a great collaboration with Jaguar-Land Rover where we displayed our 1955 Jaguar D-Type. The car was shown alongside other historically significant automobiles from the brand.
Monterey Car Week is one of the biggest annual lifts for Revs, transporting a half dozen classic cars across the country and managing them at multiple events is no small feat.
So why do we do it year after year?
At Revs, one of our guiding principles is making our philosophy, methods and achievements more accessible to people, especially those who may not be able to come to the museum. By traveling the world to significant events such as Monterey car week and bringing dynamic displays such as the 1919 Ballot we are able to effectively show the balance that is required to maintain ACTIVE MATTER.
