Revs is once again making the pilgrimage to America’s most prestigious gathering of automobiles, Monterey Car Week. Revs is bringing along a venerable and elegant lineup of five cars with our 1969 Porsche 917 PA and 1958 Porsche Carrera GT Speedster both hitting the track at the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion alongside our 1919 Ballot 5/8LC as a static display; our 1955 Jaguar D-type and 1938 Alfa Romeo Tipo 8C 2900 Berlinetta will be a stone’s throw away at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. 

Car week is a yearly gathering of the car community in Monterey, California from August 7 to August 16. The California coast comes to life with dozens of automotive events with the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion and the Pebble Beach Concourse d’Elegance taking the role of headline events. The week-long celebration of all things automotive attracts some of the world’s most rare and exotic automobiles set with the backdrop of the late summer Pacific coast. 

The Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion is a show of force for vintage and historic racing automobiles acting as a stage to show the public that these cars, despite their age, can and should be run hard. Both cars going to the Motorsports Reunion have already seen on track action this year with the 917 PA attacking Homestead-Miami Speedway at Targa 66 and the Speedster taking fourth place during Velocity Invitational at Sonoma Raceway. Behind the wheel of the two will be Gunnar Jeannette, an accomplished sportscar driver, co-owner of AO Racing, and a longtime partner of Revs. The Porsche 917 PA is competing in the Bruce McLaren Trophy, a class consisting of Can-Am cars from 1963 to 1974 with ground shaking V8s and flat-12s. The Porsche Carrera Speedster will be competing in the John Morton trophy, featuring 1950s and 60s small displacement SCCA racecars. 

Exercise and activity are some of our biggest guiding principles here at Revs and nowhere is that idea pushed further than on the racetrack. Historic racing has long been a part of the collector car world and is an integral piece of Revs’ exercise regimen for our automobiles. While track activity is inherently risky, Revs takes every reasonable precaution to help assure the safety of our vehicles.

Before the main weekend there is also the Pre-reunion, running from August 8-9, acting as a shakedown and practice session. This helps our mechanics work out any kinks that may pop up in the cars and allows Jeannette to get accustomed behind the wheel.

Our 1919 Ballot 5/8LC is continuing its tour as a heritage display where attendees can get up close and personal to see the extensive restoration Revs undertook with the car.
